Initiative to make the IGA activities sustainable

One of the major thrust of the Odisha Forestry Sector Development Project (OFSDP) phase-I have been the IGA activities. More than 7,000 SHGs and around 70 clusters were facilitated to carry out about 20,000 activities during 2008-14. To make the Income Generation Activities (IGA) clusters sustainable a partnership Ecosystem workshop was convened at PMU.

Dr. MeetaBiswal, IFS, APD (AJY) welcomed delegates of the workshop and Dr. Ajit Kumar Pattnaik, IFS PCCF-cum-Project Director, OFSDS gave the introductory remarks about the objectives of the workshop. Sri Pranab Ranjan Choudhury of NRMC explained about the structure of the workshop and the expected outcome of the workshop. Sri Susant Nanda, IFS, Jt. Project Director made a presentation on the status of the IGA activities and clusters under OFSDP Forest Divisions. Representatives from organisations like Industree, DHRITI, Ekgaon, NRMC, Bio Resource Division, Dabur, Aranyak Ecoharvest Pvt Ltd, Godrej Agrovet, Odisha and Baitarani Initiative attended the workshop and shared their valuable suggestions to make the IGA initiative sustainable and the support they would extend.
